What is DID?
DID is short for Dissociative Identity Disorder. It is a mental disorder in which there are two or more distinct identities or dissociative personality states that alternately control a person's behavior.
Are MPD and DID the same thing?
MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) is what DID used to be called. This changed when the DSM-IV was published in the 1990's.
Do you have MPD and DID?
Not that we are aware of. We experience little to no symptoms or signs of DID, and have never experienced any sort of trauma or anything else that would cause DID. However, we have not seen a psychiatrist and we are not experts ourselves, so it is undetermined...and extremely unlikely.
Are you 'Alters' or 'Personalities'?
No. We are separate people. We are people, or 'headmates', that have personalities. No one here is an alter ego of anyone else, either. We are all called 'headmates'.
Do you ever plan on integrating?
110% no. We have no intention of ever integrating, as our plurality does not make our lives disorderly or dysfunctional, and we actually feel that our plurality is healthier and more organized than being/becoming singlet would be. However, not all systems think this, and feel that they sometimes need to integrate certain members to function properly.
Okay, so do you have a 'core' and/or 'host'?
Actually, yes! Anna is the owner of this body, and she is the host for all of us. She is also the core of two others here, which we will talk more about in our 'About Us' section.
We would like to point out that not every system has a core and/or host, and some may have at one point, but no longer do. It varies from system to system.
